Meara McDonald is a Los Angeles-born photographer and graphic designer raised by artist parents. She first fell in love with photography in high school, where she was often found shooting her friends’ bands at various venues around Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. She received her BFA in Communication Arts from Otis College of Art and Design, with a semester study at MCAD, Minneapolis College of Art & Design.

McDonald has been published in Shots Magazine and has received honorable mention awards for some of her photography works in online exhibitions and gallery exhibitions around the United States. In 2024 she received a Silver Award from the reFocus Awards Black & White Photography contest in the Conceptual category for her self-portrait titled "Me, Myself & Eye."

When photographing, McDonald loves to be a fly on the wall—the quiet meditation of looking through the viewfinder and capturing those subtle fleeting moments in time. She began shooting still-lifes and self-portraits out of a need to create with what was easily accessible. It has evolved into a way of expressing and processing emotions that come with life’s challenges, aging, and awakening.
