Food as Sculpture

In this ongoing series, I get to play with my food. What started with farmer’s market figs and my grandmother’s vintage green glasses, turned into an exploration of searching for the most beautiful produce to photograph. Together with the use of objects found around my house, and hand-painted backdrops, I compose each image to present the food as a sculpture.

“Mushrooms” - Pink chanterelles look like flowers in vintage green glasses.

“Wide Load” - an heirloom tomato sits atop a 1950s vintage toy car, passing a green truck with an empty bed. The scene plays with the idea of feast or famine, or glass half-full or half-empty depending on the viewer's perspective. The idea that the American Dream is not a constant, but an ever-changing fluctuation or change of perception.
